The American patriotic spirit is well and alive in the town of Lexington in Middlesex County, where the first shorts in the American Revolutionary War were fired. It is proud of its heritage, with The Birthplace of American Liberty as its nickname. Monuments and historic buildings are scattered throughout town to commemorate Lexington’s role in one of the most decisive episodes in American history. Its gloried past aside, Lexington of the 21st century is a thriving residential neighborhood served by efficient public transportation, connecting it to the rest of the Greater Boston area.

One of the wealthiest communities in the country, Lexington boasts a beautiful collection of homes that reflect its past. Although considered a bedroom community by most, access to Boston’s wealth of career and educational opportunities are easy. Lexington’s main draw, however, is its prized school system. To get to Boston, take the MBTA buses from Lexington Center to Alewife Station. From there, take the Red Line, which will transport you all the way to Boston and other metro-suburbs west of the city.

Local Businesses and Recreation

The bulk of Lexington’s specialty shops, cafes, and restaurants are found in the town green, a traditional feature of most New England towns. Entertainment options are also available, as Lexington has its own movie theater. During the early spring, the heart of the town comes alive thanks to the local farmer’s market, which sells seasonal produce and wares until late fall.

Lexington locals love to get fit, and there are plenty of spaces in town where you can appreciate the outdoors or play your favorite sport. Old Reservoir is the local hangout for swimmers and skaters, while Lincoln Park features expansive exercise trails, sports fields, and a playground for kids. Not to be missed, the Town Center complex is home to pool, tennis and basketball courts, and more!
